Rural-Urban Migration- Problem of Socio-Demographic Regulations

Migration from rural to urban areas is a phenomenon that is found to accompany economic development universally. there are social costs of migration, in terms of dislocation of family and community life in the rural areas and congestion and stresses on services in urban areas, particularly in areas, such as, manufacturing, information technology or service sectors, data migration profile of population has become more important.  When a person is enumerated in at a different place than his / her place of birth, she / he are considered a migrant. This may be due to marriage, which is the most common reason for migration among females-or for work. One implication of these trends is that the effect of general development and improvement in economic conditions in the rural areas, on rural-urban migration would be more of a qualitative than of a quantitative character. Whether migration to certain States or from certain States has declined or has increased what are the push – pull factors that affect migration Migration in the Census of India is of two types – Migration by Birth place and Migration by place of last residence. New programmes to prevent rural-urban migration by creating economic opportunities close to their place of residence.
